erratic running Previa

Hi There, just bought a 1991 Previa in goor order throughout except it does not idle or run cleanly. Once warmed up the revs drop sharply to almost stalling then quickly pick up again, it does this constantly. It starts fine, accelerates strongly but around town this constant fluctuation makes it hard to drive. I've replaced the air filter and air flow meter so far - anyone any other ideas?

Re: erratic running Previa

ok so it's been a while but here i am again - I've finally had time to work on the Previa and in the midst of it I found I had disconnected the TPS (throttle position sensor) and guess what? the thing has never run so good!!!!!! What are the possible consequences of not having the TPS connected???? It starts fine idles well (albeit at 1100 rpm) and drives like it should without the hesitation so where's the catch?
