AT Transmission Exchange 98 Contour
I have 98 Contour with 2.0 auto transmission (F83P-DB) .Does anybody have info . how to change it step by step ? Do I need to put down subframe to take it out ?Can I install XS7P-CA or XS7P-CB instead or I need some kind addapter to do so ?

I don't know about the different transmissions. Your best bet is to go to the parts house and buy a Haynes manual for your Contour. It will have the step by step process to change over your transmission. Will also have some helplful pictures to guide you through the process. There are about 27 steps to do this. Get the manual. It's only about 15 bucks.

Thanks for replays .Just bought wrecked 98 Contour with only 35 k on it cost me $300 (whole car).Trany is match.I will do swap in next couple days

Make sure the ground wires are in the right spot and it is a pain in the butt to change.I seen my father change one in the newer body style Mercury Couger which is the same body style as the Contour.If you put the ground wires in the wrong spot,you will burn up the transmission up.

Finaly done with it .Yes it is a hard one .difficult part is puting motor and trany together.Took me almost 2 days .Because I have no air tools and was working outside on driveway.With right tools should be couple hrs job .If anyone need 'how to do it' let me know
