Mazda Tribute 2005
I just bought a 2005 Mazda Tribute Basic 2WD, manual. The mpg was listed as 25/29 and I am working on my first full gas tank to compare. I do half highway and half city. What is the experience out there with this type model. Great value for price.

For the first couple of fill ups you won't get anywhere near what the estimated mpg is because your car has to be broken into first. Mileage will get better over time,by the way I have an 04 Tribby.

I was happy to get 24.7 combined highway and city for my first tank fill. 2/3 of my commute is open highway. The last 5 miles is stop and go city stuff.

I have a 2003 Tribute 2WD and I have been keeping track of my gas milage everytime I fill up, SO I have some good data. The lowest I got was 18MPG and the highest was 25 MPG. The average gas milage was 22.7 MPG. I drive about 1/2 City and 1/2 Highway. Hope this helps..

Bought a 2005 Tribute. Great value but I'm still a bit disappointed in the gas mileage. We have a 2wd - auto trans, w/4 cylinder. I am impressed with the power the little unit puts out but 27mpg is as good as we can get on a long trip. I can get nearly 24mpg out of my '95 Impala SS, so I'm a bit confused as to why this car can't do better. Salesman told me he got 36mpg with his. Don't tell me car salesmen lie!!!? Maybe it needs to be broke in more. Just had first oil change @ 3200 miles.
