Question No power

Okay, here we go. 89 7MGE, no power in lower rpms. Had a BHG, replaced that, didn't make a difference. Acts kinda like it's running WAY too rich, but I can't find any way to adjust fuel mixture. Can't find an idle adjustment screw either. Chiltons shows one on top of the throttle body, but there isn't one on this car.
Check engine light is on and I don't know how to turn it off.
Any help wpuld really be appreciated. Just got the car and love it.

Re: No power

Have your Cat Converter check for Backpressure, anything over 3lbs no good.

Idle air adjustment screw is on the Throttle body.

I'll check the cat. There are no screws at all on the throttle body. I've looked several times, both when the TB is on and off the car.

Re: No power

That's what I've read and heard, but I don't see a plastic or rubber cap or plug on it. I just mess with the linkage until it's close. I know that's not right, but it's better than idleing at 2K.
By the way, I appreciate your responding. Just wanted to say thanx.

Re: No power

On the other side of the Throttle Position Sensor there's a screw, you have to look real close . You can be able to take it down to 750rpm. But before you do that make sure you jump te-1 to e1 at the check connector and check the timing. If correct than go ahead and adjust the Idle.

BTW you're welcome.

Re: No power

Okay, so I broke down and went to a mechanic (!!!) I didn't use a jumper at T1 and E1 when I timed it, and it was way out of time, however he couldn't find an idle adjustment screw either. He got a funny look on his face when I asked him, and when he looked, he couldn't find one either. There's a hole opposite the TPS, and it looks like it might be threaded(kinda hard to tell), I was wondering if the screw might've fallen out? Would it run like that?

That's where the screw suppose to be at, when adjusting it you need a feeler gauge its goes a certain K's of an Inch measurement.
