2002 Kia Spectra, gear shift moves but transmission doesn't shift
I can move the gear shift lever just fine, and I can see/feel that the end of the cable under the console is sliding in and out of its housing. However, the other end of the shifter cable, where it connects to the small lever on top of the transmission, does not move at all. I think the cable is snapped. It probably snapped because I pulled/pushed too hard on the shift lever while the small lever on the transmission was seized. Before I order a new cable, is there anything else I should check? PS: I'm trying penetrating oil on the seized small lever. Should there be a housing or cowl over that lever to prevent water from dripping onto it from above? |
