Cielo silencer modifying for that sporty sound??

I would like to know something abt altering the silencer of Daewoo's Cielo(Indian name....).What i wud like to achieve is a great "sporty" sound w/o actually pulling the mileage down.It has a catalytic converter and 2 mufflers after the converter.I cut opened the silencer and inserted a big metal pipe in the center muffler.Does it increase the sound ??I really dont know what its called outside India...but the model has been running in Europe and other parts of Asia as well...Anybody to throw some light??

I own a 99 Daewoo lanos....which has a similar exhaust set-up. The cat and then 2 mufflers. I've changed it in like everyway possible trying to get the best sound out of it...removed the last muffler first and put a cherry bomb on...decent but not loud enough. Next i put a high performance exhaust on. A better deeper tone but still not loud enought for me. Finally i cut out the 1st exhaust and straight piped it through to the performance ehxuast. You get a good deep tone and a nice rumble when u downshift. The best set up i've found so far.

P.S. i dont know if this will pass emmisions...i dont have to pass them so im good. Hopes this helps you.

I'm not sure about yours but on the Lanos it's 1 and 3/4 OD. And i just ran a straight pipe...keep all of the old heat sheilds and use those and you shouldn't have any problems....I just clamped hte heat sheilds on to the rest of the exhaust with standard exhaust clamps...I suppose you could weld them on if u had a torch though.
