I bought replacements for $130 apiece @ the dealer......about 3 weeks before I found come (supposedly) great plastic polish. I'd try some polish first, after that check out a junkyard to see if they've got some clear replacements.
Did you install these yourself? Tell me how.

I have the same problem. I just ordered new ones. I tried finishing compound and it does help a little but ultimately it doesn't help enough to justify it a solution. They often return to the same state soon after. There is a thousand reasons they become cloudy (gas residues, UV light, aging plastic, lightbulbs discoloring the lenses, etc) at any rate it still leaves us with a problem that is seems hopless unless new ones are ordered. The cloudyness doesn't allow the light to focus making driving at night and in the snow a big hazard.

If you are interested in buying new ones I recommend the partstrain.com
Here's a link for lights for the Grand Marquis.

http://www.partstrain.com/productsLights_(Front)1997~MERCURY~GRAND_MARQUIS.h tml

You can get R/L sides for 75.95 a piece. If you can find a lower price, you can get 10% the lower price from partstrain!

Great warranty and definitely a better solution than $130/piece

Cheers!
