The Jag F-type recieved a "Go!" for production, so let's hope we will see these little [13 feet, 5 inches in length]beasts on the streets soon

I first saw this in Automobile, and I fell in love! Great looking car reminiscent of Jaguars of old. Can't wait. I think it'll put some heat on the likes of Porsche Boxters, Z3's and SLK's.

Those are gorgeous cars. I heard that they are going to have the 370hp SC engine in it like in the XKR and the XJR. With that engine and how small and light it is, it will sure fly. I love that interior.

It's gonna look more toned down (not so concept-ey) for production though....right? I think I heard that somewhere.

They always tone it down from concept. Which really sucks cuz everyone, namely myself, love the concept look. If it stays the way it looks now, I'll love to see it in person. Can someone say S/C!

Everything is toned down for production, but this looks well thought out, so it should stay similiar. I heard it wa getting a whole new engine, but that 370 hp engine would be awesome. Add a 6-speed, and Boxters beware

I just hope they dont make it a rich-mobile
They say that it will be sports car to get more drivers into the Jaguar marque. They say in the press release that they wouls like to get a younger generation into the F-type. I hope so, because that is what made Jaguar origionaly when they entered the E-type in the 60's. They offered a car that had exceptional performance and handeling at a price that the average man can afford. I hope they do the same with this car and not make it another hood ornament "rich-mobile" for some stuffed shirt preppy who doesent apreaciate the marque other than as a status car.
If they sell the car for a base of 45k I can live with that because they will be selling the car for the same price as the Corvette. In 1967 you would pay about the same price for an E-type as you would a Stingray vette. After they release this car the spirits of Sir William Lyons and Malcom Sayer can stop kickings henry's ass for owning their marque:licker:

I saw this car in January, and it looks great in person. The lines are odd at first, but the sweeping set of windows hold it together well.
A question: Has anyone seen a lid for this can? Or is it a fair-weather-only machine? I mean, I like it with the top off, but how well will it sell in London and Seattle and Japan where it rains so much? |

some news on the f-type... the lay out is going to change on the production car, the engine will be mid shipped so the weight distribution will be perfect 50/50. It will get a 6 speed box and two 3.0 V6s with 250 or 300bhp with a blower. A 325bhp R is planned a year later. Reason of the change is that the concept didn't have the perfect 50/50 weight distribution. the engine was placed too much in front. They tried a mid front engine ( like the S2000 ) but were confronted by huge packaging problem as well problems with crash regulations.
