NA Test Pipes Noise

Hey, was just wondering if anyone with a NA has test pipes, if so how much of a difference is there in exhaust noise. Not that it matters I was just curious. Thanks Lee

Re: NA Test Pipes Noise

well you're taking out the most restrictive part of the exhaust when installing test pipes, so it will sound considerably louder, and may have a bit of rasp to it around 3k rpm... can be solved by putting in a straight through glasspack resonator, i did on mine and it worked wonders, then again, mine's a z31 so you never know what the differences could be.... mainly 1 pipe compared to 2 i guess....

Re: NA Test Pipes Noise

definitely louder.. gives it a bit more throaty of a sound... everyone who rides in the car comments on the nice sound of it... i got it done for really cheap when the guy was replacing my transmission... i'd recommend using a resonator or it will be deafeningly loud and probably rasp pretty hard with the wrong muffler.

Re: NA Test Pipes Noise

you should replace the hollowed cat with a piece of pipe k3... i've heard that even the shape of the cat causes some pretty major flow disruption... if you're going for performance that is

nah...i got myself wrapped in too many projects. i dont need to spend mroe money on that car, yet.

i just like pulling i on the weekend and putting it in 2 and just sitting at 3000RPMs as i drive through my neighborhood.

i was thinking about just sticking some stacks off the exhaust ports and running them right along the side of the engine and then cut a whole through the hood on both sides.

yeah i got a z31 that i just put a full straight through 3" shit i guess there will be more of them police evation threads lol hey you cant get a ticket if they cant get your plate lol well actually it is REALLY REALLY loud as f#$$ ya know i didnt think it was going to make that big of a difference i thought that the 2 1/2" was kinda mildly loud so what the hell ill go for a nice 3" straight through and io almost wanna say it was a mistake i mean its sounds so so mean but its loud but as for test pipes and a straight through performace muffler yeah do it hell go 3" straight and be loud and mean actually on that note i hade the exaust off just prior to the cat and started and it was no where near as loud as the 3" and i just thought of that its kinda funny i had approx 3' of 2 1/2" pipe on the car and now i got like 8" and some bends and it is louder than it was with 3' straight 2and a half that dont even sound right

Re: NA Test Pipes Noise

I have a DP, TP, and Hi-Power setup on my car (Z32 TT) on a video clip. Search on www.300zxclub.com or www.twinturbo.net if you wanna see it. Or just ask and I'll try not to be lazy and copy&paste the link here.

would you please post the link here???

for the starter of this post, when neogenious does post this link, keep in mind his will be alot quieter than your N/A, due to his turbochargers acting as a dam for air flow...

AMZ Downpipes
I fell in love with these They're absolutely incredible! Quality is Superior. Very light compared to the heavy stocks. Exact fitment and no problems installing them.

Not sure why people say they aren't leveled but they seem leveled out to me. I'll get a ruler sometime soon and measure to see if they actually are leveled.

That's it for now....more pics later when I finish cleaning up and actually clean the car lol. Over all....I highly recommend all these products to anybody.

Here are the video clips I've promised. Not the greatest, I'm happy with my digital cameras taking pics but movies are a complete different story.

Exhaust sound, did two because I thought it was making that weird flappy sound due to the distance of the camera. I guess not. Doesn't do that in person (not that I'm aware of, never heard it from the rear) and sounds a bit deeper and louder, damn digi cam! Too loud for my taste but it pays off I guess. Hehe, you can hear the mic went deaf for a sec becuase of the exhaust being so loud when starting.
ftp://u35877169-matt:tranvo5@s949510...2/PICT6264.MOV
ftp://u35877169-matt:tranvo5@s949510...2/PICT6265.MOV

Tried to pick up the compressor surge sound but didn't work that well, it's much noticable in person and a bit louder than the video. Also can be heard from the two above videos.
ftp://u35877169-matt:tranvo5@s949510...2/PICT6266.MOV

Sorry about the quicktime format. My camera only records in that format

When I'm below 2500 rpm the tone is deep and growly but above that it's nice enough for me. I'm a quiet person. Remember, the video just doens't cut it compared to the real deal. It's much louder so if you like that then go for it. I recommend buying everything from AMZ and if you need a price quote, give me a PM and I'll help you out.
