94 Corsica 2.2 auto 3 speed shifting problem
Have above with 80K clean good running car. Just acquired from original
owner who drove car mostly in town. When car is first started and placed in drive ; it starts off in 1st and doesn't shift to 2nd until about 45 or 50 mph and third about 60. After up to running temperature it will shift from 1st at about 25mph, 2nd at about 40-45mph and 3rd at about 50 - 55mph. Kick down cable is unhooked and seems to be too short to hook up over the pulley on throttle body. Any help or direction to finding information would be appreciated. THANKS FOR READING! |

Re: 94 Corsica 2.2 auto 3 speed shifting problem
if you have a 3 speed it must be the TH125 because the 3t40 was not in the Corsica. You need to adjust the TV cable, unless it is broken, then you need to replace the TV cable. Not very tough just, do a search on adjustment of the 125C TV cable.
The 3t40 (if some one changed it) has the TV cable for shift points and a modulator valve for shift feel adjustments What transmission is in the darn thing? I was under the impression that the 94 corsica/barretta had the 4t40 or 4T60 behind the 3100l V-6 ( first year) and not the TH125C or the 3T40 both three speed transmissions. |

Quote:
This is a 94 Corisca 2.2L with a 3T40 speed transmission, factory installed. The TV cable was not hooked on the throttle body pulley. Got that hooked up, changed fluid and filter and shifts almost normal' however seems a little slow and rough on the shift. Can the modulator be replaced without internal work? THANKS for your reply. |

I don't think there's any modulator. The TV cable replaced the modulator. You might just need to properly adjust the tv cable. that would cause the promblems you are describing.
