Yeah, polish that stuff goood. Great things are possible with 2000 grit sandpaper.

Looks like the boot lid especially still needs some fitting work around the edges, but it just takes a bit of effort, and (as Oli pointed out) loooove. And more primer.

Moon Mud is truly a fantastic primer/micro-filler and it is a great shame that it is no longer available

I couldn’t wait any to start working on this part – the p/e leaf suspension springs

Each leaf spring is made up of a set of p/e bars



These are easily removed from the fret and cleaned up with sanding sticks.

I used a toothpick and clamp to align and hold them while I ran thin c/a between the individual strips. When one half was done, I reversed the part in the clamp and glued the other half.

They are finished off with some small p/e bands that fold around the bars.



Really great fun to put together and very satisfying







Main parts of the chassis frame were primed with “Zero” etch primer. The paint guide calls out for semi-gloss black but since I was in “lacquer mode” after using the etch primer, I tried an experiment and sprayed everything with “Zero” Jet Black base coat.

IMO it is an excellent match for semi gloss and what’s more is dry enough to handle in 2 minutes flat! (that’s got to be better than even the best dehydrator! LOL)

I also used the Jet Black as a base for some of the engine parts.

The finish with sandblast looks so real! Which type of equipment is required to do this?
I also think that the bolts on the heads are a little big, but the results combined with some modeling license erase everything else, they look great!
Your job on the steering linkages is awesome!!

Good start, it is interesting how everyone chooses a different part to begin, I always left the body to the last, and now we just need Alex starting with the interiors to have the car covered from every angle since the very beginning, LOL! But I think he also likes to start with the body.
Good job on the body getting rid of the pitting, but why the hood/trunk lids have different primer shade/tone than the rest of the body? Don’t forget that red color is very sensitive to the color of primer it is applied over.
Nice chassis, I also use black lacquer for these cases, it also resists more handling than any other paint.
I see the driveshaft a little curved, is that correct?

Actually, I leave the body till last too I am just priming at the moment to see if my fixes have worked.

Right now everything is different color because of the different types of primers used and the different base materials (resin and white metal) but you are right, don't worry it will all be even and under a white base before I start putting color coats down

Again you are right that the driveshaft is a bit bent. I am not 100% sure yet if that is purelya result of my heavy hands or is it menat to be a little "legged" - test fit will reveal all....

Unfortunately the tool (a professional/dentist's sandblast device) R40 used on my stuff is quite expencive: 2-3K euros: I bought a sandblast gun from the hardstore to do some trials, and as agent backing soda, never had time until now. We had a discussion here with Dan and Mark lately around sandblast techs. and tehre's a little Badger sandblaster, dunno know if it needed a big compressor, like the gun or the sand machine. I found another way n my LHS: a sandblast machine (with mini-gun) that work with a vacuum... dunno know if it need a 5000W hoover that suck&eat also your wooden floor LOL

Probably not this time - I decided to give him a break on this build otherwise I'll bankrupt his business and a lot of members would be pissed at me (more than usual)

I will most likely be using Cobra Colors Barchetta Rossa.
I managed to get a few jars before Leon had to close up shop. I have never used this paint before so I am counting on Andy's threads to guide the way...

wow... i need to start saving up to buy one of these mfh kits soon. white metal is a horrible pain to work with, but you guys seem to make the best out of it. looks great.
