check 4wd light

I have a 2004 Rodeo 3.5V6 4wd, and the check 4wd light just came on, and if I switch it to 4wd the 4x4 light blinks?, and it doesn't seem to engage? any ideas before i bring it to a dealer/mechanic? figures too... just before a big snow storm... I have a feeling my wife may have had in 4wd in a non-snow condition on the highway, could this have casued an issue?

Re: check 4wd light

Looks like it's a TOD controller unit, the car is 60 days out of warranty!!, called Isuzu, they say there is nothing they will or can do, your service manager is supposed to contact a zone mgr.?? well.. he told me to contact Isuzu... Ok here we go...give me the run-around! They want $384 to replace it!! any ideas out there? anyone with a similar situation?
