99 Breeze - Engine Died, won't start again.

99 Breeze Expresso, 2.4L, 106k miles. I've had several problems in the first 100k miles, but I had a bumper to bumper warranty so I always had the dealership repair the car(water pump, A/C seals, condesor, etc., belt tensioner (twice), head gasket, oil pump, and so on).
When I was driving the car I slowed to make a U turn. As I accelerated out of the turn the transmission shifted hard and shortly there after I notice the engine cut off and now it won't restart. Everything else seems to be functioning normally. The Engine light was on for a short period, but now the oil light comes on when the key is turned on. The engine cranks over, but there's no attempt to fire. Fuel is reaching the engine, the fuses seem to be good, the engine has oil and I have about half a tank of gas. When I started to check for spark I notice a fair amount of oil in the shaft of the 2 center splugs. I wiped the plug and inside of the wire dry but the engine still doesn't fire.
I'm on a tight budget and hope someone can give me some insight to what might be wrong and what else to check.
