01 Galant 8G Manual transmission swap
Hi, I have a 01' Galant V6 ES. I was wondering if its possible to change the automatic transmission to a manual one from a Japanese VR-4 (The same body style year. I'm not sure when the VR-4s came out on the 8G) Money isn't an issue. Hope I can get some info. Thanx.

Why from a VR4? Most 8g VR4's are auto/tiptronic. Is there an advantage I'm not aware of? In the uk it would be easier to source a manual gearbox for the V6 than the VR4.
If you want info on the 8g VR4 go to www.clubvr4.com |

the VR-4 i would assume would be all wheel drive which will not work in your car. what you can quite easily do is swap in a 5spd from a 99+ v6 eclipse. you have to get all the usual tranny swap parts including flywheel, starter, shifter, linkage, slave and master cylinder and so on. the only fabrication needed would be to drill the templates for the clutch master clyinder through the firewall. yes even though the car does not come in 5 spd trim there is a cut-out in the firewall for a master cylinder becuase i think mitsu planned to offer a 5spd but didnt
