Question turboed LS motor

I was wondering if you could throw a turbo kit on a stock LS motor, and if so, how much respect could it get? is it reliable enough for a daily driver? also, is 600 a good price for a 98 integ. ls motor with 109miles on it?

I'd like to think 600 is good for any car that is 97 +

Re: turboed LS motor

i think hes talking about just the motor, not the whole car. ls turbo can handle 300whp reliably which is around 14psi if you want to go that high

Re: turboed LS motor

if your serious. psi is pounds per square inch, thats how we much how much boost you are running. if you running 8 pounds of boost, same as saying 8psi

whp is wheel horse power which is what its measure at the wheels, not the same a flywheel horse power

It would be a good idea to do a lot of research before taking on something like turboing your car. A friend of mine put together a junk yard turbo kit and put it on his JDM h22. No intercooler, 2.25 inch exhaust, no fuel control other than a chiped ECU, homemade boost controler. Well needles to say it lasted about 2 minutes before his motor went boom. So do your research, you dont want to end up like Kevin.

Re: turboed LS motor

My stock LS + ARP's lasted about 11000 miles at 300 WHP before it started losing compression. I pulled it this weekend and 3/4 of the ringlands were toast. Perfect tune with hondata. I would dial the boost back a bit from 300 WHP if you drive it all day and drive it hard.

I'm rebuilding the motor with a ported head, wiseco pistons, eagle rods, bigass cams, and a GSR tranny

If you put 10 thousand miles a year on it and drive it fairly hard it won't last 2 years at 300 WHP, ring lands just arn't thick enough. I think it could last at 260 WHP though.
