Fuel leak from canister in '98 SL1
I have a HUGE problem. Recently bought a '98 Saturn SL1 and switched the SOHC engine for one out of a '96 SC1 SOHC. Everything works fine, except now theres a major fuel leak from the emissions canister under the rear drivers side fender. It's like pissing out REAL bad, and when I try to put fuel in, it just spills out. Raw fuel is being moved from the tank to the canister for some reason and just pours out. I can't even drive without seeing a line behind my car. I changed the canister, but no good..still does it. Should I just plug the line?
Possibly the fuel filler neck? I'm most likely going to replace that tomorrow to see if thats it. If not, I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? |

Re: Fuel leak from canister in '98 SL1
I fixed the problem, it ends up it's the solenoid in the canister that is either staying closed or open*which I think is the case.* I just reconnected the solenoid *little bit of a wiring job* and everything is good now. If you want a temporary solution, just plug the tube with a bolt and thread sealant and drill a hole in the gascap. May be a little ghetto, but it works. Also takes a little bit of time to fill up because of all the pressure lol. Hope I helped.
