Does anyone know what engine a subaru loyale has and the correct firing order Also does anyone have any suggestions as to why it won't start. It just back fires and are all the subaru loyale engines the same.If so can I pick up a timing belt for anysubaru loyale and do they use 1 or 2 timing belts.

Ea82 engine.
Two timing belts. There is a pop up window in front of the engine to check on timing belt. Rotate the engine and verify that the distributor moves. This will eliminate the driver side belt. It could jump a tooth though. To check pasenger side you need to pop the access panel up. Sam

Thanks somick also do you know the firing order on the engine and the distributer. I am thinking of buying this car off of a friend and want to make sure the previous owner before him didn't plug the wires in wrong either.

I do not remember it offhand.
I have a book at home but most likely tomorrow I will not be able to access this site. May be Monday. If you need it faster go to www.ultimatesubaru.org and click on "Older generations". They have tons of information there. Sam
