Is a vtec controller needed for skunk cams?

I've got a 95 integra LS with a vtec conversion. I've been building my engine up for all motor, and have the head ported and pulished, type R pistons, with an 11:4:1 compression ratio, I also have a chipped ECU with the vtec changover at 4800 and the redline at 8500, and a Type R oil pump. I recently bought skunk stage 2 cams with aem cam gears. I will be upgrading the valve train with new springs and retainers. I've been told that my should buy a vtec controller so I can change my redline to around 9500 or so. Should i spend the extra money to buy this?
