who knows about preludes?

the other day i stumbled onto a 99 prelude and picked it up now im trying to learn about the car and possiable mod's that are available but all i seem to be able to find is a million sites selling ricer crap "fart cans, huge wings, body kits, ect.." now im sure there is decent info out there about the h22a but i just cant find it. if anyone can tell me were to find info on better performance gear like intake manifolds, heads, cams, maybe foged rotateing assembily? im not wanting to make the car a race car or anything i got my gas gulping cobra for that but i would like this daily driver of mine to be a low 13sec car

Re: who knows about preludes?

What about nitrous? If not, have you tried looking on other forums? H-T has as many people as here. Google h22 mods and your question will be answered.

Re: who knows about preludes?

Intake (CAI, IM, TB)
Exhaust (Header, Cat, Cat-Back)
Jackson Racing Supercharger (or a turbo w/e)
Build the block (sleve, pistons, valvetrain)
Get a chip and have it tuned (Hondata, Chrome, etc...)

that will give you about as much gain as a prelude can get

You could go to http://www.gripmotorsports.com/dl~pn...ts_Header.html for some headers, go to http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/me...&Store_Code=EM for an good exhaust. Thats just a couple of sites i know, you can just google for everything else.

Re: who knows about preludes?

What you are looking to do with your car... you should look into building a turbocharged engine. For this, you will need to pull the engine and replace the con rods, piston rings and pistons with forged units as the stock parts will not handle the boost. The crank should be fine.

If your car is a Type SH, you can get away with about 210 wheel HP before you need to custom mount a Base transmission.

Greddy makes a turbo kit for 97-99 models if you don't know where to start on turbos. Most people design their own kits.

Jackson Racing still offers their infamous Prelude supercharger. infamous for high intake temps but if you can get a tuner to give it some engine management, most folks seem to like it for about 260HP. Turbocharging is cheaper. If you live in a SMOG state, this is probably your only legal option.

As for naturally aspirated power... I will get flamed for this but I own a 2000 Type SH myself so whatever.... don't bother. I don't feel it's worth it to modify the car's engine unless you plan to use forced induction. For the performance numbers you want anyway. A track only car is another story.

Type SH cars also have a different suspension up front than a Base Prelude. Other threads should cover the correct spring/shock combination for SH models. Brakes should be left alone except for steel lines and better pads. Only high powered turbo Prelude should even consider a big brake kit. Look into changing the rear sway bar for better handling. Just know what you're doing when you go about it. lift-off oversteer happens in FWDs too.

I am sure I will be flamed for some of my stances on modification, but as a Prelude owner this is what I feel you should know. Be realistic about your performance goals on these cars. If you'd rather not get into a full engine rebuild and turbo system, you can still get very enjoyable performance with a header, intake and whatever ECU tuning you decide to go with. It just won't net you super low ET's.

Hope this helps. It's pretty general. Others cover these topics MUCH better than I can.

No problem, there engines are not brand new, but thats because they put 30k miles, because they wear in the engines for you.
