Shake when Accelerating
I have a 95 SL1 w 165,000 mile on it...
Due to the fact at the moment I couldn't afford a new car...I have had a lot of work done to it to keep it up over the past 2 years.... Recently, I have noticed vibration/shake during accelration. i brought it into the dealer and they said my rear hubs were shot..I had them replaced...They were bad....but I'm still getting the shake/vibration. I was wondering if this could be the motor mounts as it only is noticable when I'm accelerating....They checked the front end and said it was fine ? ? ? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated... Thanks, J |

Have it aligned if you haven't all ready. Motor mounts would have been my thought, but you have checked them all ready.

See if you can get the same vibration power braking, if so I'd go with mounts or exhaust. If not it may be in you drive axles.

Yes your stock motor mounts are going. (so are mine ) Just do not get new stock motor mounts get ones from www.saturnmotorsports.com . They will stop the noise and give you a big diffrence in acceleration

About Vibrations on a S-Series
Have your dealer check yout Torque Axis Mount (Top Eng. Mount). If it st stating to collapse them you'll feel a vibration upon accesleration and at idle. You can check it yourself if you want to. It id the mount next to your coolant bottle. If you can put a pen between the rubber and the metal on top then it is bad.

Re: Shake when Accelerating
it could be in the exhaust pipe. if it's double walled, i cant remember, the interior pipe could have partially collapsed. the shaking is a side effect of this.
