Rx-8 Vs Evo 8 Mr
LOL, that's all I have to say. It wasnt a stock evo either, he had a full turbo back exhaust done, it sounded beautiful. I lost by 4 or more cars from a 70mph roll to 110. I had our friend brandon in the car, the evo is his dream car. I wanted to run just for the hell of it and the guy bit. The only thing that sucked was the guy didnt look like he was having fun, I know I was. Anyways that was funny!

Good times man, it's fun to get destroyed once in a while...it's more fun when the other side is cool about it though.

4 cars from 70 mph -110 in a modded EVO VIII MR, he must have been a shitty driver. Just goes to show just because a car is faster doesn't mean they will always win. You were clearly the better driver in this case, but the difference in cars was too great to be made up by some driver error.

Nope, you read my post wrong. I said I thought a modded EVO VIII MR should win by more than 4 lengths in 70-110 mph pull. And even though he won, it was not by as much as I suspected he would win by which goes to show that he was not the best driver, and therefore not driving his car to the full potential even though he did in fact beat you just because it is a car that is fast enough to be able to win agianst you even with some driver error. So in turn, from the story it sounded like you were the better driver, but you still lost just because of the sheer speed of the modded EVO.

Re: Rx-8 Vs Evo 8 Mr
The EVO MR is a 6 speed (unlike the regular EVO), but the gearing is tighter on the 04-06 STI. On 07 STI the spaced the gearing a little more, so I imagine the 07 STI is similar to the MR.

Re: Rx-8 Vs Evo 8 Mr
My 05 STI in 4th gear at 70 MPH would be at about 4500 RPM, perfect for hitting it hard (want to be at or slightly above 4000 so the turbo will spool fast). The EVO at 70 would be a little low in 4th, or a little high in 3rd. If he took off slowly at first and then gained speed quickly as the turbo spooled, he would have been in 4th.

Re: Rx-8 Vs Evo 8 Mr
If it was an VIII he may have had aftermarket cams then as well.

I doubt he had cams, why would you think that?

Re: Rx-8 Vs Evo 8 Mr
EVO VIII didn't have Mivec so cams were a common modification.
