Turn signals 2000 Trooper

My turn signals mysteriously quit working last night. Today I checked the fuse (under the dash, good) and changed a burned out side marker light. Still doesn't work...does anyone know where the flasher relay is and if that could be the problem? I checked the fuse block under the hood but I can't see that any of the relays there are the flasher relay.

Thanks,
Brett

Re: Turn signals 2000 Trooper

Flasher is located behind the driver side kick panel, forward of fuse box. An inoperative flasher unit is listed as one of the causes of an inop turn signal system.

Thanks, I'll check it tonight. Any tricks to getting the kick panel off?

Thanks again,
Brett

Re: Turn signals 2000 Trooper

Usually the ABS fascia panel uses push type fasteners along with being tucked in behind the door seal and/or the upper dash fascia. Look first to be sure there are no screws or other plastic blocking the piece in before attempting removal. Special tools can be used but generally, with some judicious care, you can secure enough purchase with your hand(s) and/or a putty knife to dislodge it enough to pull the panel away from the pillar. The fasteners may pull out OK, or be left in the pillar. Simply remove them with pliers from pillar and reinstall in plastic fascia. When reinstalling, line up the fasteners with their respective holes and give it a bang with the heel of your hand to re-seat it. Good Luck.

Re: Turn signals 2000 Trooper

Sorry, forgot to report back. Got a new flasher from O'Reilly's ($7.99) and pulled the panel off, replaced the flasher, lined up the holes in the panel and smacked it back on, and....WORKS! Thanks fo rthe help.
