Need advice on '83 XJ6

'83 XJ6 with 60K miles with some slight issues...

1) needs motor mounts
2) needs rack and pinion
3) needs something done to or for the exhaust? (...the "donut", thats what the man called it...)

good body, good interior, but i am new to jags and have always wanted one... leaning more towards the XKE types, but life has gotten in the way of those to date...

This XJ6 i could have at a slick cost of $700... it would be a secondary driver, my ultimate question is whether or not it is worth while... ( my current secondary is a 1986 BMW L7 currently out of commission )

Also would anyone know how the two might compare as far as comfort and ride?

It'll probably cost a lot for the parts, but we got a 88 and its a smooth ride and has a fair amount of power.
