'97 TP with Faulty Gas Gauge

My gas gauge is all over the place, use my odometer to fill up at 300 miles; '97 TP with 145k miles, 3.4L - is this an easy fix? Is it worth it?

thanks.

Re: '97 TP with Faulty Gas Gauge

Drop the gas tank, replace the fuel level sender... At your mileage you might be better off replacing the entire fuel pump module though, i replaced just the level sender on my 97 since the pump was replaced only a couple years before that and only had about 30k on the pump.

It's extensive, get the tank as low as you can and then take it in if your not going to do it yourself your mechanic will love you for it because the tank needs to be disconnected from everything and dropped down and out of the van to get to the fuel pump module.

The 97-98 Venture and TP have a known problem with bad fuel level senders. When i ordered my replacement from Rock Auto they said it was the NEW TYPE that was redesigned. Compared to my old one it did look different on the traces of the circuit board the wipers run over, more robust.
