Unhappy Commodore VT centre rear seat belt clip

Hi Guys, Can anybody help, recently while removing the back seat in my VT commodore to install new rear speakers, I broke the plastic surround-clip which is on the centre rear seat belt where it enters the rear parcel shelf. The surround-clip had perished in the sun and had become very brital. Holden tell me they do not sell this surround-clip and that you have to purchase the whole centre seat belt at a cost of around $120.
This is a total rip off when you consider the plastic clip would be worth around $5.00 max. I have since inspected a number of other VT commodores in the street and in used car yards, almost all have a broken or missing plastic surround-clip on the centre seat belt. Is there a replacement product or another type of surround-clip that could be modified to fit.

Regards - Eddy

Re: Commodore VT centre rear seat belt clip

I have just had the same problem, and replaced the seat belt. The reason I was told by holden that you cant buy the plastic cover seperate is that its not gananteed to meet safety regs. Its also illegal to use seatbelts and or seatbelt components that have been in an accident. If the car wa ever in an accident and someone was using a seatbelt that has been mucked around with or found to be incomplete you will void your insurance. And insurance companies will use any excuse to not pay. So for $120 -$150 its worth it.
