Okay I own a VL calais series II with factory sunroof, it is a great car.
What to look for is rust around windows & in boot linning, up & under the lip in the boot, also cracked head or head gasket, I did a head gasket in mine, they do not like to be running hot, also ball joints in the diff, but that can be an easy fix, also the centre switch for the electric windows, they can play up & cost around $100 to replace.

well prices do vary as you might have seen, form around $3500 for a ruff n messy one upto $7000 to a well looked after one.

So form $4000 - $5500 I would say for a ball pak figure.
If you find a nice & neat one thats not to modded, you will have a good car.

Good luck with your hunt.

Cheers
