Unhappy 1989 Caddy stalled and will not start...Help?

My 1989 Cadillac Fleetwood stalled, and will not restart. My husband has checked the fuses, changed the control module and the distributor coil. None of this worked.

His father briefly checked the car and said it is not getting any spark.
Today, I learned how to access the cars ECM system. I totally cleared the history, and now, the only thing showing up is a code E38 "ECM has detected an open circuit condition in the manifold air temperature sensor(MAT) or related wiring/connectors"

Would this cause the car to not start? Where is this part located?

Any help would be much appreciated. My hubby is upset with the car, doesn't want to dump a lot of money into it, and thinks that the "brain" of the car is dead. Is the ECM the brain?

i would you suggest that you pay the diagnostics fee and know for sure what the problem is and work from there, it could possible save you money and definitely save you head-aches.
i'm not being a "wise-ass" it's just that troubleshooting a electrical problem can become pricey, especially since most electronic components are none returnable. i don't believe there is a problem with the ECM considering it's reporting codes.

please keep us posted on your progress.
