Completed Fujimi MR2 Turbo (TOUGE)

hi all, I promised that I would bring out my write up for the MR2 from Fujimi... basically its the 'Touge' version, so it got more decals for tuning blah blah blah... but actually I built this for my girlfriend, it was her birthday and she has a Mr2, I made the model as a rendition as what she wanted to do to the real one, like the deep blue paint job and the advan rims... which are supposed to be (SSR Competitions) but the RG's are the closed thing I got to it from fujimi... but here we go...

sprayed with Tamiya TS-53 I believed... Dark metallic blue? Last of the wet coat... I laid down quite a few coats on this sucker because I do much sanding with abrasive sand papers... they come in a pack for 20 dollars (US) for the out of country builders... and they are damn good... grit starts at 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000, 12000... and you work your way up with polish inbetween and you have to wet sand... so you gotta lay on the coats lightly to cover... then the last three coats gotta be wet as all hells.

After it dries... it will look very very very matte in color...

Half complete...

Lighting and clear corners were set in. Polished and shined out...

my last part... meguairs ( number 7 and 26) to top off and shine. Also the rims were set in as well.

After thoughts of the model car... well, if it was not for my girlfriend, I would of tossed this model out the door... I mean like many problems with the kit, I thnk the molds are out of shape, and there are some parts that don't fit well (we all know fujimi's kits have the best fitment ) the suspension kept on falling out, then the rims won't hold right in the back with the stock ones... and the chassis was basically a nightmare to play with... but at the end if you can keep up with the fits it throws at you, then you got a good model... the MR2 is the girlfriend that you are trying to tame... once you got her down, she is yours to keep...

Cheers,
Peter

KEEP THEM COMMING HOT OFF THE OVEN GUYS!!! LETS BUILD MODELS!

I have one of those kits (the Initial D version, but that's neither here nor there) and I have to agree with you, it's not very good. I had many of the same problems you did, plus all the work that goes into lowering the front suspension, ugh.

You still got a decent model out of it. Congrats.

Very nice finish. So the Meguiars waxes take out the fine scratches? I have the same polishing kit, and I have real fine scratches. I used Novus 2, and it took most of it out, but not all of it. Let me know. Thanks. Great build.
