I need a new car(acually I need opinions on used cars)
I'll get straight to the point: My old Supra is pretty much dead and I need a new used car that I can tune up. I have found a few but I'm open to suggestions.
Found: 92' 240SX $3,000 95' Mustang $5,650 93' MR2 $2,000 Fairlady Z(I can't tell what year it is, but this car is in perfect condition)$1,200 4 Civics 93'-96' 4-$9,000 99' Accord $12,000 98'(97'?) Imprezza $7,000 Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. To be more specific...I'm willing to spend at least 9,000 on a car( I have 18,000 to work with). My poor Supra will be given an honorable funeral. |

When you say "Fairlady Z", are you talking 240Z/260Z/280Z or are you talking about some other generation?
I'm sure Redneck 383 will tell you just how good the 240Z's are. And I'll agree with that. I had a teammate with a stout 280Z. Plus, of all the cars you've found, it would really be the best sports car performance bargain of the bunch. The Honda are all way over-priced (especially the Accord). The situation improves with the Mister Two (fun cars and excellent handling, but somewhat of a pain to work on and parts support isn't the best in the world) and the Impreza (the uphill battle with Imprezas is dragging out NA power, unless you can afford an aftermarket turbo kit in which case have a ball). The 240SX is a strong choice and very versatile, just don't expect the performance of your Supra right off the bat. They're sturdy and stable, and can be tuned to do some awesome things. As far as the Mustang is concerned, an SN95 chassis Mustang can do whatever it is you ask of it with some moderate tuning and will hang with many imports in the twisties. If you're not a diehard import guy, it's definitely worth looking into. But, when all is said and done, if that Fairlady is a 240Z/260Z/280Z, that's what I'd take. There's plenty of performance parts out there for it (they've had since 1970 to build up an aftermarket) and they can easily be built into streetable terrors that will be frequently underestimated. Funny how that is. Ricers underestimate the very car that made it possible for their cars to be taken seriously. No respect for heritage.

It is very funny how they underestimate the old school. BTW, it's a 280. In some cases, old is better than new. thanks for the info. The mighty sleeper can rest in peace knowing that it has put many ricers in their place(stupid Civics, Integras, Focus, & maybe a Cavalier or 2). I have seen Zs in action and I had a close race with one(and lost on account of bad shifting)so that would be nice.

What kinda Supra you got Mk3 right? Don't kill it put a 1jzgte in it then mod it and it will still cost you less than another car and be fast and no BHD with the 1jz and it's a true twin non-sequential turbos. |

Warranty? From what I hear those Mopar upgrades are illegal and will void the warranty. But the srt4 is a fast car stock. Test drove a 04 last week. Didnt notice too much low end power. But im pretty sure the 16k turbo does alot better from 3rd gear on.

why would mopar sell factory performance items right out of the dealership if they were to void the warranty? im sure anything besides what they sell will void the warranty

My car is an old Mk. II and it turns out that I am the 5th owner of this car. My team consists of a 97' stock Integra (just purchased), a 98' Eclipse RS, a Civic HB(I'm guessing an EG6?), a 98' Camaro, a sleeper MX-6(not the hatchback model), and our newest member: a 97' Civic that combines the Ricer look with a racer's speed. In other words: I want a car that will keep up with anything but the camaro. SRTs are nice, but not my style. I saw an SS Chevelle for sale and nearly died.
Thanks for the feedback. P.S: Is $8.00 an hour from 4-11:00 p.m. a steady paying job? |

Well get a MKIII turbo and stick to the Supra, they can make pretty impressive amounts of power for the year of the car and they can be had for 4k and that is usually in excellent condition. |

I guess I could upgrade to the Mk. III(Seeing as how there are 12 left in my area and 3 are selling around $7,000). The Camaro will take over for me until I can get back to where I was. I can see it now: A Mk. III that's just as killer as my old Mk. II. Kills 45% more ricers than the previous brand(I wonder how long it would take our mechanic to fix this beast?). Thanks for the for all the help.
