Unhappy fan problem

The fan does not come on in high speed and the car runs hot. I have jumped the OP1 and E1 and it does nothing. Then I applied voltage to the solenoid valve on the PS pump and the fan works. Is there a fuse or relay that controls this? I am lost right now.

Cool Re: fan problem

It turns on & off by the cooling fan ECU, powered by the 15amp ECU-IG fuse.
The cooling fan ECU has it's own coolant temp sensor. Check that.

If you download the 93 FSM. That sensor is on the wiring diagrahm.pdf page 27. Marked E4 (the temp sensor by the thermostat)

I would also look at the wiring / harness.

Re: fan problem

The fuse is still good. I am thinking that the cooling fan ecu is fried. Where is it located? I am having problems with my computer right now and it will not download it right now.

Re: fan problem

Ok, I downloaded the repair manual. The fuse is good, so I think that the module is bad because it does nothing when I put a jumper between OP1 and E1. When I checked the sensor, I got about 3.45K ohms with a warmed up engine.

Re: fan problem

Problem solved. I changed the coolant temp sensor. I scored a cooling fan ecu on ebay, now the fan comes on like it should.
