My friend just gave me a Kicker 500s amp. I dont know much about it, other than they stopped making it due to its high output causing the surface of the amp to get very hott if its being worked hard. I do know he was running 4 JL audio 12w0's from this one amp at 1/2 ohm.

OK most of the brands listed are good... well except Sony and Jensen, and Bazooka, and a few others. Well for the most part I am a JL Audio fan. They just work like a pair of Rabbid dogs on a mission. I like the R.I.P Technology (regulated power-supply), for the newbies that means the amp is capable of producing the same power at nearly any given volt between 10.4 volts to 14.4. Huh? Well that means you can use your stock alterantor and NOT draw too much of a load off it .EFFICIENT& CLEAN! Duh!
I have had my two amps for about a year now and never had a problem.

My setup is as follows:

Alpine CDA7879
XM Tuner
JL Audio 300/4 - true 75 x 4 @ 4ohms all the time
JL Audio 500/1 - true 500 Watts at 1.5 to 4ohms all the time
Focal Polyglass 165 cv - 6.5" coax with off board crossovers rear, made plates.
Focal Utopia 165W components up front (Extreamly high end, $1200.00)
JL Audio 12w6v2-d4 @ 2 ohms in a ported enclosure.
Simple and oh man it is awsome in all music except for hardcore rap since these speakers are NOT bouhgt to listen to that all day long, why would anyone want to destroy thes speakers on that anyway?
Streetwires ZN630 RCA's x 3, battery terminals, 1awg power to a distributioin block then to 2 - 4 gauge runs to each cap and then to the amps.

Re: brands to buy or not to buy?

Does anybody know how I can customize my 88 acura legend? I'm trying to figure out what performance parts I can add to it or any ways I could change the interior. I'm trying to take the leather seats of the back and add new ones, and also put racing seats, but I don't think they have mounts for this model. also I'm trying to figure how I can put a better looking bodykit, cause they have very, very, very few for a model that old

PLEASE HEEEEEEELP!!!!

Actually JL slash-series amps aren't really efficient class D amps. They are about 65% (+/-5%) efficient at full tilt. a JL 1000/1 would be able to drain the crap out of the electrical system (unless you have an alternator that puts out at least 120A, given you don't crank the system up high).

I prefer all Alpine. I also like JL, Mb Quart, and Phoenix Gold. The only bad thing about small audio shops is the price$$$$$$$$$$. You can research before you buy from a big store and save.

Panasonic Head units are awesome. I love mine.

I haven't heard anything said about pyramid... and its crap. I actually have a pyramid amp and 2 10's they work... but thats about all I can say, they don't sound good or anything, but I'm making very little money so I take what I can get.

Infinity speakers are good, but not the best.

That's stuff i have had experience with. I don't want to comment on what I don't know for myself
