Check Engine Light.....

So my 2006 Equinox was fine upto this afternoon. I stopped to run into a store and when I came back out and started the vehicle I noticed my check engine light was on. I looked in the manual and ensured my gas cap was tight. The Equinox is still running great, but having the light there is annoying. Is says it could be an emission issue, or maybe some wires got wet. (I'm hoping that's the case as we did get some snow yesterday).

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what they went through. Is there a way to get this light to turn off?? Any help is great.

No one can advise you how to get it to go out until you get it scanned and obtain the troublecode. Most big box auto parts stores now provide this service for free.

You can pull a couple ECM fuses in the underhood fuse block which will reset it. However, as long as the root problem still exists the check engine light will come back on.

Re: Check Engine Light.....

I would have to agree with the previous post. I would recommend taking the vehicle into your local dealership to be diagnosed. They should be able to assist you further and have a plan for addressing the issue. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you.
