'94 Timing?

Having no distributor on the 3.5 is there a way to adjust the base timing or does the engine computer totaly control that?

I recently changed all my Injectors, and put in a new timing belt as the milage warrented a new belt. The car runs nice.. I belive the fuel mileage did improve.. but I notice hot starts seem to be a bit off. Does not fire 1st turn so to speak.. Still starts good mind you, but not right off like it did. Power is good and cold starts seem fine. I'm thinking timing is to far advanced. I did have to move the cams forward one tooth on the new belt to get all marks aligned. They were slighlty behind(Left) with the Crank mark right on, which I blamed on the old belt being streched.

Anything I can do here?

Cheers

Re: '94 Timing?

Base timing is contolled by the PCM via input from the Cam and Crank Sensors, there is no adjustment. Having the drivers side Cam Pulley off a tooth can affect the timing though, but if you verified that the marKs are correct (between the 2 dots for each cam gear) after installing the belt and turning the engine over 2 revolutions and reverifying then the PCM should take care of the rest.

If it's not idling rough and seems to run good and it's not too difficult starting then I would think things are all in order under the hood, have the plugs and wires ever been changed? It might be time for those to be replaced too, they seem to eat plug wires on a fairly regular basis, my parents 94 New Yorker seems to love them!

Re: '94 Timing?

Thx

I kinda figured the system babysat itself in that regard lol I'll check the wires, I've not replaced them.. I did replace plugs when I did the injectors. My wife thought the idle was a tad rough.. but it's so slight hardly noticeable. I'll re torque the intake plenim I imagine any vacum leak around it's base would effect idle also.

Cheers
