Re: Read end gears: 3.73 vs 4.10
Its just a matter of feathering the gas pedal
But in all seriousness, the guys with the 4.10s didnt really have traction problems, even when it rained. When flooring it, thats another story... |

Re: Read end gears: 3.73 vs 4.10
Personally I would think that 3.73's would be just right for good performance and decent mpg... 3.55's would also be a good choice for more mpg but less performance...
4.10's I would think would get horrible gas mileage I know someone that runs 3 grand doing 65 in his 98 TA... I'm looking forward to getting myself some 3.73's in my 94 Stang Convertible |

i, personally, am probably gonna use 4.10's, they'll still get decent milage with the tranny i have in mind (T-56 w/Viper ratios). it has a 6th gear ratio of .5:1. as far as memory serves, most stock pieces have something like a .9:1 - .7:1 overdrive gears. in any case, with this tranny, i'll be able to launch hard and still top out fairly high.

Re: Read end gears: 3.73 vs 4.10
Until 2002, the 5th gear ratio was usually .67

ugh... i said quite clearly, or so i thought, that it has the viper ratios, which are lower than a mustang's. please read my posts more carefully before you attack me.

Re: Read end gears: 3.73 vs 4.10
If you go to secondstrike.com you can check your transmission rpm's with the Mph in each gear. Its under the technical section..I have a 97 cobra and am thinking about putting 4.10 or 4.30 gears in but, I have a .67 5th gear which helps me on the highway.
