Fuel Mileage

What kind of mileage do you all get?

I just drove granny style all week and got 26.5 MPG!! I thought I could do better with an '02 base 5 speed, 48K miles and only engine mod a K&N drop in filter.

All week I only drove around town, to work and store, under five miles usually per trip.

Sheez!!

I guess it could be worse - I read about someone who drives a Hummer H2 and spends $200 per week!!! on gas!!!

Re: Fuel Mileage

At the air show yesterday there was a plane that could store $40,000 of fuel. Yikes.

Anyhoo, for me I usually get about 35MPG (Canadian gallons so thats like 29 US) with at least half of my driving coming from the highway. I drive fairly conservatively but I go WOT every once in a while

and I had alot more city driving with my RSX and I think I was closer to 24-26 because it was more half highway half city driving

Re: Fuel Mileage

I'm thinking about building myself one of those Flintstones cars ...gas prices are getting ridonkulous. (Goddamned Bush.) And anyone who owns a Hummer deserves to go broke on gas IMO. Fucking fuel shortage and these morons are rolling around getting 2mpg...this country is full of retards. I hear the H3 will run on California Condor eggs.

Re: Fuel Mileage

You're basically calling Bush an idiot. Why? He came with a practical solution to the gas prices. "If you don't need to buy gas, DON'T BUY IT!".
And sadly, no, I did not make that up.

And yeah, I saw the snowbirds, the show actually better than I expected. I wasn't planning on watching it, but it turned out to be pretty good. I mainly liked the fighters

I got 24.5 mpg driving normally, mostly city. WOT a few times a week, Usually shift 3k-6k RPM.

Very curious about what highway mileage is like at a constant 4k-5k RPM. We all know that highway mileage is better than city, but I really don't understand how driving at a constant 4k RPM can be more efficient then occasionally hitting 5 or 6 and staying below 3K the majority of the time. Is it all just from idling at the light and after vtec kicks in?

Gas is $3.35/Gal 92oct here, Good thing I'm not driving that 13 mpg(92oct) Camaro anymore. Although I do miss the smell of the rich exhaust and that cloud of smoke when I started it. VROOOOOOcoughcoughcoughOOOOM

Yeah- I read that in the paper and laughed. Screw him, though. I've got some extra cash to blow this month so I might as well increase my gasoline stockpiles. I keep it in Rubbermaid trash barrels in my spare bedroom...

And what are these Snowbirds of which you speak? Is that like the Canadian equivalent of the Blue Angels? I hardly think it's necessary to be wasting precious jet fuel entertaining a bunch of Canadians when there is a fuel shortage. If you want to bomb a country with those planes it's one thing but...an AIRSHOW?!

Re: Fuel Mileage

Yeah gas prices are outrageous...me and Canuck are paying like $1.29/L hmmmm translate its about $1.55/L so its $5.85...im pretty sure I converted it right, but basically were paying a shitload for gas...I guess thats the price we pay for driving Suburbans and hummers for years just sucking back gas...everybody could have been more rational with gas...

and Snowbirds are just a Canadian airshow they do, with a bunch of other airshows...One of them crashed like 2 weeks ago so theyr safetys being questioned

Re: Fuel Mileage

Yeah, on thursday the station near me was charging 1.23, I passed by yesterday and its 1.59. What the hell.

And as said, the snowbirds are a group of Canadian pilots and airplanes that fly for airshows, etc and I think they're like the Blue Angels (I can't remember the exact name of the american equivalent but I know the planes are blue and yellow).

BTW, what about all the fuel being wasted at NASCRAP races

Re: Fuel Mileage

25 mpg driving in VTEC all the time, 31 mpg driving below VTEC and using 6th as much as possible without A/C.

Quit the whining. Gas was up to $3.89/gal in MD (not as bad as the crazy Canadians though)! I drove the 31 mpg way until prices dropped!

And, yes, I'm back from the dead!

You disappear and Mason makes an appearance. Now Mason is MIA and you are back from the dead. Like Superman and Clark Kent...never in the same place at the same time. Hmmm...maybe mmontO is actually a mild-mannered Canadian accountant by day?

You are looking at only the RPM's..dont forget the average speed..

occasionaly hitting 5 or 6 and staying below 3k the majority of the time at an average of 30 mph is not the same as a constant 4k RPM's at 70 mph..yes the 4k RPM's is a higher avreage then the city driving..but you are going much faster..

that's why it is MILES.per.gallon.
