gas gauge and light

OK, i just got a 1995 GSR teg with 77K on it, i was tryin to figure out its mpg and its total range and all that good stuff, well the gas warning light didnt come on till it was past the red line for E and when the needle is past E i can only get 11.5 gallons in the tank. how big is the tank? and do i need to get the gauge recalibrated or what? its kinda weird cause i dont know when im gonna run out of gas, its past E with only 315 mainly HW miles on it. any help would be appreciated.

acura claims that the fuel tank is 13.2 gallons, but i don't see how its possible. seems more to be like 12 gallons. my light turns right on when the needle is in the red. and it takes like 11.5 to fill back up. maybe there shitting us with the gauge accuracy and giving us that extra gallon past the bottom of that gauge range so that we have a reserve. who knows. oh and your mileage should be like 30ish. best i've gotten is 36 on the interstate and worst was 25 in the dead of winter when it was 10 below zero. my average is about 32MPG. i refill at 350 miles normally.

to bad its not like my old civic days.... 44mpg on the interstate, i hit 500 miles on a tank sometimes.

sounds like you got a nice teg.... a '95 with only 77k on it!

ok well its good to know someone else has that problem lol, it just kinda freaked me out cause i usually dont ever run the tank that low but i wanted to see how far i could go, ill prolly just run it to about 325ish and fill up, maybe 300 in the city. and yea i got an awsome teg, its never been wrecked, has like one little scratch on the rear bumper and some door dings you can see on the passanger side if you look close, but nothing major. the interior is in perfect shape too. and i upgraded from an 87 ls teg (1.6lt DOCH non vtec) with almost 266k miles to this so im in heaven lol. my old car started to have a gangsta lean built into the suspension lol, and no im, not fat. best of all, we only paid 6,400 for it, with tt&l, for the GSR that is. peace

Don't worry about it man. My GSR does that too. It shows me that I'm out of gas, but when I try to fill it up, it takes 10 gallons.
