Fuel Pump Problem?
Hello,I'm new to the forum. I hope someone can help me out.I have a 1999 Lumina 3.1 Recently, it started running rough like it was about to run out of gas.A friend thought it was the tuel filter then it started running smooth again .Then, about a month or so ago it started running rough again.Well, my friend is a pretty big guy & he stripped the nut on the line that goes into the filter.Ran good for about another week after we gave up on the fuel filter & then it DIED. So we went to a salvage yard & got a fuel pump for $50 put it in & apparently it's no good or something else is wrong. We did get the filter off & changed it also. We're taking this one back out & are going to try another salvage yard as I can't afford $300 for a new one. Any suggestions how we can be sure the next one works? The last place said they tested it. I don't think so.Any ideas?

Re: Fuel Pump Problem?
best thing to do is see what the fuel pressure is(with a gauge)
you can run the pump outside of tank to see if its ok but remember your playing with gas & electric (BOOM!!!) pump gets cooled by the gas its in(running it w/o cooling can damage unit)
