The Travels of the Civic
This thread will chronical the travels of the Civic. First stop is home, then it gets packed up and goes on its way. We went around Baton Rouge, Louisiana today taking pics with places of note.
My local hobby shop. I've been going there for more than 15 years, I'd bet. I am moving soon, so let me take this opportunity to shout out to Andy and his crew, for having everything I need and if not, getting it. I'm sad I will have to find a new shop and a new friend now, but, them's the berries. The new Louisiana state capitol building. It's "new," built in the 30's by our Kingfish, Huey P. Long. It's the tallest state capitol. Why? 'Cause Long wanted it that way. That was back when Louisiana was really prosperous due to oil. Now, we are really poor due to oil. Oh well. This is the USS Kidd. Nothing really to do with Baton Rouge other than it's here. It's a WW2 destroyer that has been restored and is a museum. I was a tourguide there for three and a half years. Great freakin' job. It's in the Mississippi River, and behind it you can see the Mississippi River bridge where I-10 crosses. The river is a mile across here, and about 5 miles up river is our old bridge, that Huey built, so short that no ocean going ships could go under it. Why? So Louisiana could make money off of port services. New Orleans has most of those facilities, though. LSU campus. Fist picture is of our parade grounds and the clock tower, that rings only early in the morning, so if you hear it it's either 1. a freakin' awesome party or 2. a freakin' miserable class. You can see our stadium in the background... our 92,000 seat stadium. Cranes mean they are making more. The second picture is Highland Hall, where I lived for four years. Lots of good times and good stories there. And some not so good ones. But it's ok, there are loads of hotties in and around the building 24-7. Best place to get some grub in BR. George's, a bar/restaurant/hole in the wall. Best po-boys ever, better than any I've had in New Orleans, even. You can see some very satisfied customers in the picture. If you're in Baton Rouge, get off I-10 at Acadian throughway, go south on Acadian till you get to Perkins, go west on Perkins, and just when Perkins goes under the I-10 overpass you see George's. You'll thank me. Next stop, Estonia!

Re: The Travels of the Civic
