Angry 2001 Olds Alero

I just purchased a keyless remote for my Alero, and with all the programming instructions I got, none of them work. I was wondering if there might be a problem because my horn doesn't work, and if anyone knows what the problem with the horn is, that would help.

Also, the turn signals are neurotic. Sometimes they work; sometimes they don't...but the hazards work all the time.

Re: 2001 Olds Alero

your turn signals are probably related to the upcomming recall for the hazzard switch.
as far as the keyless entry - is it a gm remote?
if it is i may be able to help.

Hi,

If the turn signal doesn't work all the time but the hazzards do... wow, are they really going to be doing a recall??? That'd be great.

The keyless entry is a GM remote.

Any aid you can give would be truly appreciaed. Thanks.

The turn signals are controlled by the hazard switch...from what I understand there is supposed to be a recall issued for this condition.

Quite possibly, you have the wrong part number remote....the remotes were vehicle specific..if you have your old remote, check the part numbers on the back.

Re: Re: Re: 2001 Olds Alero

It's a remote that I purchased from someone on eBay. The car didn't come with a remote or an Owner's Manual. I bought it used from a dealer at an auction. I got a really good deal on it, but when I think about it, maybe I didn't. No remote, no manual, no horn, no turn signals.

Do you have any idea what could be causing the problem with the horn?

If you can come up with any suggestions, I know my son's Escort, when you hit the horn on the remote, it uses the horn on the car, so I'm really thinking this has to be the problem. If you hit the lock button twice for the Escort, it beeps the horn.

Help on Re-setting CPU

Morning.... newbie to the forums here but need some help if anyone can give.... Need to know how to re-set the CPU on my 01 Alero GLS... The 'low tire pressure' light has stayed on and I have no flat tires at all. I saw the re-set button on the fuse panel but how do you do it? Please help!

Trust me, I'm the wrong person to ask. I'm a "newbie" female. Hopefully, someone of the male gender will get back to you!

ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Press and release the RESET button located in the drivers side IP fuse block. The CHANGE OIL indicator will begin to flash.
Press and release the RESET button again. The CHANGE OIL indicator will turn off, and the LOW TIRE PRESSURE indicator begins to flash.
Press and hold the RESET button until the chime sounds and the LOW TIRE PRESSURE indicator turns off. and then let go of the button.

I would check with your local GM parts department to see..1. the proper part number for the remote and ..2. if your car is equipped with keyless entry.

The horn is controlled by a relay. Check the fuse in the underhood electrical center first.
