Tamiya Subaru WRC 2001
Is the kit that will be started next.
The body was prepared tonight, the front and rear mold lines removed. Again, superb quality molds restricted these to just along the top of the boot, down the rear bumper, and a tiny one down the sides of the front bumper. Rubbing the body with 800 grade will get rid of any final rough edges. The spot light covers were glued in, but the bonnet scoop and air vent will be kept off until final assembly to aid polishing. I have partially assembled the rear wing too, using superglue to keep it strong. Place the top plane of the wing in place to get the spacing right. The wheels are pre-painted gold again, but only the front face. The rear lights are pre-coloured too, as per the road car. Expect to make some clearance space for these to fit! I have the paint all ready for this one, so that should get done over the few days I have off for Xmas! I should be able to primer it tomorrow. Updates as usual... It's a lot wider than the standard WRX! |

Look at that blue one! I see definite street potential. Especially since it looks wider and lower than the actual street version which is why I think it would make a good street verson suby.

Ok, a couple of things have appeared that need sorting!
Does the rear wing come as a complete item on the real car? If so I need to fill the gaps on the kit's wing. I also need to verify the colour as being Sonic Blue Mica. The instructions list it as that, so can anyone verify it? Also, the spotlight covers really need to be sprayed off the car. Glueing them on leads to the gap filling with paint and ruining the clean lines, kinda like it does on the nose cone of the Skyline! I shall take mine off and spray them separately! |

Dan,
I've put a post on scoobynet asking the question, we'll see if that helps. http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...threadid=60914 Steve

I took these in September at a car show in Anaheim, CA. The show was right across the street from where I work.

Great shots Jay!
So it seems the rear wing is one piece, so I shall fill the gaps either side. The colour is supposed to be WR Blue, slightly different from the previous shape rally car, so we are just debating whether it is worth geting a whole tin of paint for a subtle difference! I will have the codes for you soon. This means I can't spray it over Xmas though! |

Looking at some pictures, it looks like WR blue is too light. I have sent an email to Subaru World Rally Team, to see if they will tell me or not. Won`t do any harm!!

Considering I have Sonic Blue Mica and Nissan Intense Blue, I would prefer to use one of them!
Should be good if SWRT get back to use though! |
