03 Tib passenger door won't open!!!

my girlfriend's 03 tiburon's passenger door will not unlock, it just wouldn't work with the keyless entry at first then it stopped alltogether. I studied a little in this forum and came to the conclusion it's the lock actuator. Is this hard to change for the do it yourself? I'm pretty good with tools, have done all the work to my camaro myself.

Also how the hell do I pull the panel off of a door I can't open?!?! Maybe I can pull the top off enough to get the door open then take it off the rest of the way to work on it? Or is there a trick to it or something? I also read a little on here how to take the panel off, the three screws on the bottom, the door handle, and tweeter. But I can't get to the screws on the bottom with the door closed can I?

Thanks in advance for all your help, I know most of you guys don't like us Muscle Car fanatics but I hope you will help me out!

the same thing happened to my mom's mini van try unlocking i manually on her's it was just the motor or whatever broke but it still worked manually then you shouldnt have any problems and you should be able to do it yourself no problem you might want to check to see if they have a lock actuator at a junkyard save yourself some money

and we love Muscle Car fanatics theres nothing like some good ole american muscle

Re: 03 Tib passenger door won't open!!!

that's the problem, the door won't unlock at all, manually from inside or with the key outside, the door is stuck as is, no ifs ands or buts

Re: 03 Tib passenger door won't open!!!

that might work but would be a lot of work. You think I could get one of them Slim bars whatever they're called and Jimmy the lock from inside the door to get it open? I don't know about Hyundai but I tried that on a 2001 Intrepid and we couldn't get it, even the cop was out there trying. They changed the style of the doors so no one can do it in 2000.

I don't see how that will work though, a locksmith just duplicates keys, makes keys if it's missing, can pick locks, rebuild/replace locks.

Re: 03 Tib passenger door won't open!!!

yeah we thought of that but the warranty expired, she only had the two year 70,000 mi warranty and she has 110,000 miles and had the car 2 years and some odd months. Maybe I will call them and see if they can give me some answers. Her car has so many problems but I'm starting with this cuz it's annoying as hell crawling over her shifter and e-brake. she badly needs a tuneup, oil has 30,000 miles on it and plugs, wires, fuel filter never been changed, she has an injen air filter which probably needs cleaned, I haven't seen it yet, she's been beatin' the shit out of it but complains cuz it's a shitty car. TAKE CARE OF YOUR CARS AND THEY'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU! She's dumb. She just wants to race.

03 Tiburon Passenger Door Lock

I had the same problem with my passenger door lock on my 03 tiburon. Mine luckily froze in the unlock position. The lock had begun getting very hard to turn over manually. One day the cable snapped inside the panel. I had to remove the power motor to even be able unlock the door manually outside the door. So far as getting the panel off of a closed door, I can't really help ya there. glad to see i'm not the only one with that problem
