2002 xlt a good buy?

Looking at maybe picking one up? Are these rigs reliable 4x4's? Not talking hardcore, just need to know if the running gear/ tranny/ engine is reliable. What are the known trouble areas to look at? Thanks

First thing, look at the rear lower control arms, if they are rusted out, figure about 300 for a set of arms and bolts.
Second, take if for a drive and go from there. They are very good vehicles, but like any car, if the owner didnt take much care of it and it has some miles on it, you may have to replace some parts.

Thanks for the tip. I'm also looking at explorers but have seen some bad reviews on quality.

Some year Explorers are good vehicles. Depends on the year it was built and how well its been kept up over the years. the first couple of years had front axle problems, some, the more options you got on it the worse it became.
alot of people have good luck with Explorers, you see lots of them out on the road every day
