98 stalling and low idle?
i have a 98 b1500 with 80k 6cyl.
its been sitting most of this horrible ct winter. i would run it occasionally when i could, but this thing is awful in the snow. anyways, lately it stalls intermittently when idling. if i hold my foot on the pedal a little its fine. if i rev it and then let go of the pedal it stalls. is the idle adjustable or do i need an idle control switch or something? im getting no engine codes |

Re: 98 stalling and low idle?
The IAC valve sounds dirty...very common problem.
Remove the IAC valve and clean both it and the hole it fits into real well. If cleaning it doesn't solve the stalling issue, then it might be bad and have to be replaced. |

Re: 98 stalling and low idle?
Check all those vacuum lines, too. I live in a cold climate, too, and the
cold tends to make all those hoses hard...hence they sometimes develop leaks...which can often lead to rough idle/stalling/etc. Also, a nice bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner might help your issues. My Van gets at least 1 bottle (8oz.) per year...that expensive gas we have now is consistently crappy with all that ethanol, anyway, so give it all the help you can...and if the Van's been sitting all winter, some fresh gas is in order. |
