drivers door keypad
I just purchased a used 1999 Mercury sable. The place I bought it has no info on what the code is for the keypad to open the door. Someone told me that these cars have the master code for the keypad somewhere on a decal in the car. Does anyone know where that decal could be and if not does anyone know how I can program the keypad to my own code?

mercury sable keypad
Try calling the dealer, or going by. I would personally just find myself walking into the shop and questioning a mechanic at ford. You don't need the original code to reset it to one you want. I do know that. They should be of some assistance. Also try searching under keyless entry systems for ford/mercury. Also try checking Edmunds.com . Good Luck:flash:

The RAP module that contains this 5 digit code is located Above the driver side footwell, directly above the accelerator pedal .
You might wanna grab a flashlight and look for a 5 digit code on the module itself. In light of previous post, you DO need the original code to set one that you will easily remember. But you need original code first. If this post helps you out and you would like to know how to set your own code, let me know and I will help you anyway that I can. Good Luck!!

Drivers Door Keypad
I have the same problem with theSable I just purchased. The automotive manual says the code is on the tag attached to the car computer. It does not say where it is located. I assume they mean the engine control module, I took a quick look and couldn't find that either. Will call a Mercury dealer Monday.

Hi the code you are looking for is located in LITTLE STICKER on the right hand side of the trunk lid when it is raised.
Hope this helps, I know mine is there. |

Still Can't Find
Thanks for the tip but the only sticker on the inside of my trunk lid is the vehicle ID #.
A previous post said look underneath the dash, but I think that was a red herring designed to contort my body and nothing was found. Thanks for the try. |

What year is your sable? Mine is a 1995, I just went and looked again and it is on the inside of the trunk lid right behind the right side tailight assembly that comes up with the trunk lid. you do not have to take anything off or remove anything it is about 1/4" in width and abou 1" to 1 1/4" long.

I have done this with my old (93 Taurus SHO). Not sure where the unit is located in newer Sable/Taurus', but mine was located in the trunk. Open the little black box that controlls the keypad entry. Inside, you will find a circuit board with a bunch of resistors soldered to the board. Using a soldering iron, heat the soldered joints and remove the resistors. Solder them back in the order of the code you want (each pair of numbers is indicated on the circuit board).
My local Ford dealer wanted to charge me $79.99 (1 hour's labor) to give me the code for my car. It was much cheaper (and a little more fun) to do it myself! |

Re: drivers door keypad
I just went out and looked on my 98 Taurus SE and it was right above the gas pedal like the other post stated. It's kind of hard to see. It's a white sticker on the black control module and it faces the center of the car. You must have a flashlight to see it.
