Re: Installed FMIC GOT PROBLEM

I took it to a shop where my dad is good friends with the guys and we did a smoke test to find a leak... there was no leaks anywhere until there was like 14 pounds of pressure in the system then the bov opened and poured out smoke. He suggested that the vac line going from the bov to the intake manifold having a smaller hole than the stock one could be causing the pressure to be let out at that psi? any suggestions?

I just dont understand why the bov sounds different too when it releases, its like a high pitched chirp now and its the same 1g bov that i had before...

Re: Installed FMIC GOT PROBLEM

you got a stock 2g BOV ?? they're plastic and leak really bad...

even a 1G can leak, try using a vice to indent or "crush" the top portion of the BOV... it can hold more psi then...

edit: oh, and are you still running the boost bleeder valve (I think that's what it's called)? That has to be Bypassed, but still connected (IIRC)

Re: Installed FMIC GOT PROBLEM

i have a 1g but shouldnt it hold more than 14 psi before leaking? What is the boost bleeder valve?

Can that vac hose from the bov to the intake manifold cause it to open or close at different times because the new one i put on there has a smaller hole than the stock one did and thats all i can think of

Boost control solenoid, I'm sry...

and I'm not sure a/b the hoses like that, but I would suggest using the same size... as the volume might affect boost/vacuum... b/c the amount of air used for boost/vacuum would be the same, but the volume in which it is needed is smaller... I'm guessing it's a possibility

I called it the Boost Bleeder valve...

The BCS makes sure the car doesn't boost over a certain amount... if you have an aftermarket MBC, this should already be bypassed, but if not... you should remove the restrictor at the bottom... it will allow the car to boost more than stock before cutting out or opening the wastegate/BOV...

I'm feeling like crap... I'm gonna get off of here before I start talking some crazy shit and have you lost... I probably won't be back on during the weekend... I don't get online much at home, and I'm s'posed to work on my car...

Re: Installed FMIC GOT PROBLEM

ok well thanks ill check that out because its wierd how now its sputtering... would installing the front mount increase boost possibly due to biiger short route metal piping?

Re: Installed FMIC GOT PROBLEM

No, it shouldn't increase boost at all, you might have less pressure drop, but it shouldn't increase anything.

Re: Installed FMIC GOT PROBLEM

as far as your bov, it leaksaround there, i think like 17psi or so. it could be leaking sooner than 17, like around 14, which is your problem. id say get a different bov.

are you sure its your bov opening, not your wastegate shooting air out?

Re: Installed FMIC GOT PROBLEM

i did a pressurized smoke test and when the pressure got to 14 psi it opened and poured smoke out of the bov... i dont know why, i didnt mess with anything concernign the bov, mbc, or turbo at all. But the one thing i did change is the vac hose from the intake manifold to the top of the bov which had a smaller hole than the stock one did. Other than that i can not think of why the bov would be venting early now.

Re: Installed FMIC GOT PROBLEM

alright then...just change that hose out. i think the Inner Diameter of the hose should be 3/16".

you could also go and buy a brand new 1g bov from the dealer for like $80. or get a used one from someplace for about half that, maybe even less. the 1g bov holds psi very well, up to 18 i think.

that last post where i said the 2g bov holds up to 17psi, i think i made a mistake. i think it only holds about 13-14, sorry. youve probably reached the limits of the bov. get a 1g bov, or a greddy type s.
