Diablo Roadster progress...
I've been playing with this one for a little while.
Very simple but nicely molded, about 35 parts if you count each of the screws! there is only an engine lower and no molded light lenses or mirror faces for the outside mirrors. The white piece in the front is a scratch built roof section. Revell showed it on the real car on the box, but left it out of the kit! I filled the fuel filler door so I could use a PE one in its place. Primed and painted MM International Orange. Wow! that is ORANGE! I've put a couple of light coats of MM Turn Signal Amber on it and Its a bit calmer now, nice sparkle too. There's no sticker or decal for the instruments, just a blank flat dash panel! The interior is primed white, I've still got to get some orange detail wire for the interior piping, come up with guages, a radio and a shift gate. More to come... Can you guess who I was rooting for in the 'Final Four' last week?

Nice colour. Can you not knick the undercarrage and internals from a nother makers kit? would be easier than fabricating your own.

Re: Diablo Roadster progress...
i picked up that kit cheap at a hobbylobby sale. I was planning on just making it a build for the top of the shelf. you have some good ideas. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Re: Diablo Roadster progress...
i have this kit too, it's pretty good especially for a snap tite but i miss the roof :-(
Shouldn't have been that difficult adding a moveable roof to the kit, Revell |

Here's the real dash I'm trying to replicate.
A few holes in a little piece of plastic... MCG guage faces will fill in the blanks, I need something even smaller for a clock (for the completely empty console space) And even smaller holes in an even smaller piece of plastic (the grey piece is the shift gate from a EM series Countach) Some random parts... I guess a little more res would show the pearl in the roof panel, Exhaust pipes are done and the chassis is as well. wheels still need detail and the interior console is getting all its knobs and do-dads scratch built along with seat belts and pedals(?) As far as questions of chassis swaps, It's something I've considered since the kit came out. Yes, it's possible, but once you open the engine cover than why not the doors and on and .... It's just not what I wanted to do. I'm going for a nicely detailed "curbside" model.

A little progress.
You can see the blankness of the console, I hope to fill in all the missing space with a little PE radio and buttons, a scratch built clock, trip computer, ash tray, lighter and all the other missing buttons. I've already made the instrument panel and shift gate. That all has to wait till the body is finished however, as the dash has to be painted first and that is part of the main body which still need a coat of clear. This shows the roof panel resting on the rear deck. And yes it is scratch built. I only wish I could make it fit on both the roof and rear deck locations, but when I made a pattern that fit the roof location it was just too big to fit the deck. Lots left to do, but it's starting to look like something.

Re: Diablo Roadster progress...
Very cool! I love these Lambos with their 7500redlines and 220mph gauges! On the real car, does the roof lock-in to something on the rear??
