exhaust

i know this sounds kind of stupid...but i just wanted an explanation of what a downpipe is and what it does and stuff. thanks

Its the first part of the exhaust system on a turbo charged car. It usually contains a CAT or is right before the CAT. Its like a header but for a turbo.

the sequence is as follows,

Turbo - Dump pipe - Down pipe - Catalytic converter - Resonator - so on.
