OK heres some trivia on the GTO, If you'd like suggest differnent trivia and information about the GTO 1. In what year did the GM brass, specifically James Roche order the tiger advertising to return to its cage? 2. Why did most GTO owners remove the vacuum operated feature on the Tri-Power engine with Mechanical Linkage? 3. what was the Performance dealership and racing team of Pontiac GTO's? 4. Who was the mystery driver who went everywhere the Royal racing team went and was in a tiger costume and challenged spectators to beat him? 5. What was the year and month of the CAR and DRIVER issue that featured GTO vs. GTO and controversally said the Pontiac GTO was easily the equal of the Ferrari GTO? I'll post the answers in the next couple days or in a week to see if anyone can get em all right then I'll post new questions.

1. 1966
2. The vacuum linkage had two problems: You could not control partial opening of the end carburetors; and once they were open, the closing was slow. The first characteristic made it almost impossible to control wheel spin when you were racing. With the second issue, when you were “getting on it” you had to let off of the gas a little before you actually shifted. These were not problems for automatics, so mechanical linkage became the standard on stick shift cars. 3. Ace Wilson and the Royal Racing Team. 4. The “Tiger” driver was changed many times, but the person that they unveiled as the Tiger driver was George Hurst. 5. March 1964 B/T/W, I still have the 64 GTO that I ordered brand new in January of 1964. I have had it since March 28, 1964. |

Re: GTO Trivia
damn you got all of them, for #1 1966 can be considered the 1967 model year.
I'm very impressed i'll post new questions sometime today. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could tell me more about your 1964 GTO, I've always wanted one, I have 65',68', and 69' GTOs and I'm always looking for a 64', but they're so hard to find.

I am not considering getting any more cars right now. However, I am thinking about working on a more all out '64 GTO racecar.

B/T/W, the Tiger campaign did not go into the '67 model year. It was terminated at the end of the '66 model year.
