Me thinks this car is for sale. I thought it was chassis #59 but the ad says its a 1996 and #59 is a '98. I wish it showed the VIN# though! That section in the ad is blank. The ad is here: http://www2.thecarexperience.com/pls...p_car_id=10306

I'm not certain if it's for sale or not. As far as the year though, I believe an earlier ad for this car on QV500.com identified it as a 1998. At that time mini magic had used the process of elimination to determine that it was #059 which even he admits now is probably not right.
I would assume that this is a 1996 and that maybe it received it's refit to the LM-Kit in 1998 - that could explain the year discrepancies. That is of course complete speculation, but I don't think there is anyone we can ask to get the real story unfortunately. >8^) ER |

On that link you posted in the McLarens at Christies thread it said the color was Kandy Orange. Isn't the only Kandy Orange car Dan Kennedys??? Theres no way this could be his

Read my reply in that thread...
For the longest time I beleived that Dan Kennedy had somehow gotten his hands on the last F1 road car based on the color. Then later we learned that his car was an earlier road car that had been refitted from the factory, painted to match the last road car. The actual name of the color on the #075 car is 'Yquem' not 'Kandy Orange' - and it get's its name from a french dessert wine of a similar color. If you look at the original chassis list you will see this. When Dan Kennedy bought his F1, he requested the factory to match the color of the last road car and they wouldn't provide the paint code for it so he had them mix up a color he felt was close. He calls the paint color on his car Kandy Orange Metallic. >8^) ER Last edited by Peloton25; 10-17-2003 at 04:13 PM. |

Anyone a SUPERCARS.NET premium member? I found the pics of the McLaren #75 on supercars, but heaps of the pics are premium members only. Also it might help jomo decide the car, by the condition, very well presented in the thumbnails, anyway here are the links, please if any of you have all the pics, please post them, +75 has nice wheels, better than kennedys attempted bling bling wheels.
Thanks, here are the links http://www.supercars.net/AutoShows/2...y/index10.html http://www.supercars.net/AutoShows/2...ly/index1.html cheers -Mike |

Hey Mike-
All of the SC.net Premium images are posted to this thread already by mini magic right here. You might have overlooked them as they used to all be in one line requiring you to use the side scroll at the bottom of your screen to see them all. I had mini magic fix the post the other night so they load one on top of each other like normal. >8^) ER |

Gordon Murray wouldn't approve, 075 has a radio, and they are very good pics, awesome resolution, you can see every bolt! also has sat nav. Would that enable wireless modem to Woking? I think most f1s have sat nav.
Also that has to be the best maintained f1, why sell? The minds of righ people Also I found an interesting website talking about people buying written off supercars, and fixing, selling making a great profit, they think they will get an f1, highly unlikely right? Bit of the topic, but first to reply, probably a stupid Q, but this burgundy f1 pic has high mirrors, probs posted b4, is it rowans? And could that pic of the red f1 in Park Lane be of the Clinic Car in red?, anyone know where the clinic car is know? probs woking. And, my dad is in the automotive industry, and just as a bit of info, Peter Stevens was at the Sydney Motor Show, at press day, and he was introducing the new MG, he took credit for designing the f1, but someone quickly pointed out he only did the chassis work, Gordon Murray was the real hero -Mike |

McLaren Mike,
Gordon Murray is the real hero for the concept and details in the McLaren's execution, but Peter Stevens designed the body. Gordon designed the chassis, and both Peter Stevens and Gordon Murray refined it AFAIK. Note the McLaren body's similarity to the Lotus Elise Mk 1. That is also a Peter Stevens design. Gordon Murray typically favours completely minimal body shapes like his Rocket. |

Peter Stevens also designed the Jag XJR-15, Lotus Elan M100 and the 2004 Subaru WRX STi

Since the term 'designer' can really mean several things to different people, lets call Peter Steven a 'stylist' in this situation. Here's a shot from "Driving Ambition" of Gordon and Peter working together to revise the design details of the McLaren F1.
