amp

I just bought 2 10" alpine type R subwoofers, in a rox box H.O. ported box, and i was wondering what kind of amp i would need to power them to their full potential. I'm not worrying about getting an amp to power my midranges quite yet, but that will come later. any help please?

Re: amp

It would be helpful to know how much power those subs can handle. Find that out, and we point you in the right direction as far as an amp goes.

Sorry to say thats the only way to find out unless your friend knows off the top of his head. Its only 8 screws to pull the sub out, and it would point everyone in the right direction. Both susb handle the same amount of power it just depends on whehter you need a 1-ohm stable amp or a 2-ohm, besides your going to have to pull it apart to get to the wiring.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Well I talked to a friend of mine who works in car audio and he said that all alpine type R 10 inches are 4 ohm. I was thinking about getting a massive RS 25 amp. This comes with 2 channels, and has an output power of 65 W/Ch (14.5 volts, 4 ohms). maximum power is 300 W and the total harmonic distortion is 0.012 (THD). Is this a good amp to buy or not?

No he's wrong, all typeR 10"s are not 4 ohm, typeR has 2 models;1042d and 1022d..1042d is 4+4ohm and you can run this sub 2 or 8 ohm but RS 25 is not enough both of 2,typeR subs 500w rms power, also you need more powerful amps..

wrong only the type x subs come as 4 ohm. type r are come in 2 ohm and 4 ohm. and now your subs rms is 500 watts rms try to match that. but with out the ohm knowing it would be hard to find one.

Re: amp

Pull the sub out of the box, it has a rubber boot cover for the magnet it says right on there whether its 2 or 4 ohm. Also depending on the model/series/year also depends on power rating, the newer ones with sorround with the 2 bumps is 500 and the one with the single bump isd i believe 350-400.

I cant find a pic of the old one but they have the standard single bump sorround.
